... WINTER WEATHER POSSIBLE ON TUESDAY...
A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL CROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS ON MONDAY MORNING. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN STEADY OR SLOWLY FALL ON MONDAY AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE TO FALL MONDAY NIGHT TO NEAR FREEZING BY TUESDAY MORNING. AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL APPROACH SOUTHEAST TEXAS ON TUESDAY. THIS FEATURE WILL GENERATE PERIODS OF LIGHT RAIN MIXED WITH SLEET. THE TEMPERATURE WILL CONTINUE TO FALL TUESDAY MORNING AND THE PRECIPITATION WILL TRANSITION TO SNOW MIXED WITH FREEZING RAIN AND THEN ALL SNOW NORTH OF A BRENHAM TO CONROE TO COLDSPRING LINE. SOUTH OF THIS LINE... THE RAIN AND SLEET MIXTURE WILL BECOME A FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET MIXTURE WHICH WILL TRANSITION TO A SLEET SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN MIXTURE BY MID AFTERNOON. PARTS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS COULD SEE ACCUMULATING SNOW BUT AMOUNTS SHOULD BE LIGHT. THE SOUTHERN HALF OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS COULD SEE SOME SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATIONS BY TUESDAY EVENING. AREAS SOUTH OF I-10 COULD RECEIVE 0.15 TO 0.30 INCHES OF LIQUID EQUIVALENT WHICH WOULD FREEZE ON BRIDGES AND OTHER ELEVATED SURFACES. IF THIS SCENARIO UNFOLDS AS EXPECTED... SIGNIFICANT GLAZING OF ROADWAYS WILL BE POSSIBLE AND TRAVEL WOULD BECOME DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS.
PLEASE KEEP UP WITH THE FORECASTS. IT WILL ONLY TAKE A DEGREE OR TWO OF WARMING OR COOLING TO CHANGE THE PRECIPITATION TYPE. DRIER AIR AT THE SURFACE COULD ALSO AFFECT PRECIPITATION TOTALS. THE TRACK OF THE DISTURBANCE IS ALSO FAR FROM SETTLED AND IF THE DISTURBANCE TRACKS FURTHER SOUTH... MUCH OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS WILL REMAIN DRY AND THE PRECIPITATION WILL TRACK TOWARD THE MIDDLE TEXAS COAST. AT THIS TIME... IT DOES APPEAR THAT WINTER WEATHER WILL AFFECT MOST OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS ON TUESDAY. A WINTER STORM WATCH OR WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY WILL PROBABLY BE REQUIRED ONCE AGAIN.
