Nature Report 4!

Image
Eeekk!! It's a brown centipede! They are from Europe, not supposed to be poisonous but, will bite if they feel threatened. They also can live up to 6 years! I'm pretty sure I saw this one when Ike came in September of 2008. That means that it's been living in my house for 4 years! I could have kept it as a pet! Pictures from the shelter! That is a prairie dog, it is kept at the shelter because it was raised by humans at birth and so was not able to be released back into the wild. This peacock decided that it wanted to hang out! The above pictures are of trees that had been recently cut down due to the two trees that fell in our front yard. We decided that it was a good idea to cut down the trees that might be a problem to our neighbors and us. Cool, spider web! Tree trunk of tree that had been cut down a couple of months ago. Look what I found, worms! They were in the tree trunk. I'm not sure what kind of worms they are,

to go or Not to go!

This morning I was wondering if I should go to the TWRC's baby bird program. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go or, not so, I sat down on my bed to think. Should I go or, not go to the baby bird orientation? I knew that I had wanted to go to the bird orientation the last time I went to attend the center one. There's two volunteer's, center and bird room volunteer's. Last time I went I attended the orientation for the center volunteer, not sure if I wanted to attend the baby bird orientation, I left. I thought if I want to do it, i'll just sign up on the next orientation, which was this Saturday. But, once the date started getting closer I started to think twice about going and was thinking about skipping it. I had not even signed up for it until around 10 pm Friday, two hours till Saturday. Right after I had signed up I got cold feet and decided that I should email the center and tell them that I am not going. After I had emailed them I was still think abou

Punishment!

Image
Time for another Pondering With a Purpose! Punishment, how do I punish the one's I love, Well... I don't because the one's I love are cat's and when they do something wrong they're completely oblivious to it and it wouldn't help them to punish them. For instance i'm currently trying to type this post with my laptop barely hanging off of the desk because Simon is sprawled out across it. Should I punish him? No, why because it wouldn't help him to understand what he is doing wrong by punishing him. So I just let him sleep there until he moves off. Sigh.... he will eventually! Like now! No... he's just moving closer to the computer. Joining Brenda in her Pondering With a Purpose, click the box below to join in or, see other entries. "/>

Poison Lilies!?

Image
Did you know that lilies are poisonous to cats? Well, I didn't until Brenda from  http://brendayoungerman.blogspot.com/  told me last Saturday (thanks Brenda!) I read from the picture source below that a ingestion of the leaf, petal, or, pollen stems can lead your cat into acute renal failure which will eventually end it's life. Oh no..... beware of lilies! Not good for your cats! Your Life!

Image
Hey y'all time to join Brenda again in her Pondering With a Purpose! This week's ponder is about your life and what things would you change about it. Well for starters, I wish I wasn't so absent minded, kind of forgot to wake up mom and tell her to go to work today. I got distracted by the computer and thunderstorm, wish I had remembered sooner, oh well... We own a shop so it doesn't really matter, if a customer did come early, they will come back later, no biggie, I hope. It's not entirely my fault, oh well.... We'll since we are talking about my life, I don't think it has really started yet. I wish I had found out what I wanted to do earlier and had gotten a job while I was in high school so, that I don't have to look for one with no experience but, oh well... Hopefully I'll get one eventually. I've met some people at the shelter who've given me some good advice so, hopefully they can help me get one. At least i'm getting some exper

Happy Father's day to mine and all of the other father's out there. This is a picture taken of my dad and me near Niagara Falls. I wanted to show this picture as a present to my dad because he got mad at me for not putting it in my slideshow, I didn't put it in there because I wasn't sure if he wanted me to or, not. Happy Father's Day!

Nature Report 3!

Image
Baby birds, there were some baby birds flying around our patio last week. I haven't seen them in the last couple of days. I hope a cat didn't eat them. Blue crane, I saw one walking around our neighborhood. Baby opossum, I think this is from that litter of opossums that I saw about a month ago.  Baby rabbits, I heard at the wildlife orientation that it is not good to pick up a rabbit that is only a few weeks old because it gets anxious and will cause it to have heart failure which will kill it, so don't pick them up! Sorry I didn't get a picture of the animals in the center yet, I wasn't sure if they would let me and I didn't want to walk around with a camera in my pocket. I'll try to get some next time. Baby peacock's, I've seen some peacock babies walking around with their mother's, they look like chickens! Will get some pictures of those too. Black crow, I saw this crow squawking to his fellow crows on top of my dad

This Week's Pics 3!

Image
On our way to the Comal River near New Braunfels, TX. Welcome to New Braunfels, TX! Old hotel We also went to the Comal River but, I didn't want to take my camera out and get it damaged or, wet, you can click here to see what the Comal River looked like,  http://www.texastubes.com/riverconditions.html I just read on the link that the Comal River may be the smallest river in the world, just under three miles, pretty cool! Not sure if we'll be going back there again but, if I do i'll try to take some pics, I hope you enjoyed this week's! See you next time, bye!

Howling Simon!

Image
So, recently as most of you know I went on a trip to see my little sisters graduation. I was gone for a week, I came home and Simon was Howling. He does that when he gets upset. I remember he did that the first time I was gone for a day. When my dad and I went to Galveston two years ago. I was always home then so, he wasn't used to me being gone. When I came home he started Howling. I wish I could tell him that i'm going on a trip but, I can't and I don't want to go on many of them because I don't want him to get upset. I feel bad but, I don't think there is anything I can do about it, unless I can learn how to speak cat.
